Paulina Pfeiffer

The Swedish soprano Paulina Pfeiffer has been acclaimed for her warm generous voice and genuine stage presence. She made her operatic debut in 2006 as Margaretha in Boito’s Mefistofeles at Södra Teatern, Stockholm and has since then had an international career. Among the highlights can be mentioned Adalgisa in Norma and the engagement in John Adam’s A flowering tree, both at Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle in Bogota and several roles at the Royal Swedish Opera.

Paulina made her debut at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm singing Mimi in La Boheme, followed by Adalgisa in Norma, Judith in Bluebeard’s Castle and later on returned as Mimi once again, this time under the baton of Lawrence Renes. She had the great honour to sing at the Nobel Prize Ceremony in Stockholm 2011. She sang her first Amelia in Un ballo in maschera at Folkoperan in Stockholm and participated in a concert version of Mozart’s Mitridate, Re di ponto in Stockholm, singing Sifare.

Among recent and upcoming engagements can be mentioned the part Mrs Naidoo in Philip Glass’ opera Satyagraha at Folkoperan in Stockholm, Carmen in Carmen at the Dala-Floda Festival, the soprano part in Förklädd Gud (Lars-Erik Larsson), Verdi’s requiem in Gothenburg with Simon Phipps, a musical tour on the river Donau and several concerts. Season 2023/24 includes the role as “Mor” in new written Opera “Häxbloss” by J. Dominique, soprano soloist in the Performing Art Piece “My total pleasure”, world premiere of new Art Songs by Swedish composer H. Gefors, Summer Concerts performing Dvorák’s Zigeunerlieder with Duo Dialog, Gala Concert in Berlin Philharmonie, soloist in Fauré’s Requiem and the role as Olympe in new Production of “Camille” by A. Dumas at Västmanlands Theater.
In December 2022, Ms. Pfeiffer received the prestigious Stockholm Academic Male Chorus’ Grand Singing Award.

At Malmö Opera she has been participating in a production called “Sopraner” (Sopranos) which went on tour in the south of Sweden. Other roles are Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana and Marie Krøyer in a production about the Swedish composer Hugo Alfvén, both at at Ystad Opera.

Other interesting engagements have been singing the soprano part in Amadeus at Spira, Cecilio in Lucio Silla together with ReBaroque Orchestra at the Royal Palace in Stockholm, recitals with Wagner ́s Wesendonck lieder and Nyström ́s Sånger vid havet and Christmas concerts at Kungliga Operan in Stockholm.

Paulina Pfeiffer has studied with the distinguished dramatic soprano Katarina Dalayman. She graduated from the University College of Opera in Stockholm in December 2008 and was also educated at Kulturama/classical singing and at Operastudio 67.

Paulina has been awarded a number of scholarships and prizes; in 2008, the Barbro Salén Foundation Scholarship and in 2010 she received the Birgit Nilsson Scholarship and she also received the Jenny Lind award in 2007, with the commendation for ” a warm and rich voice, honest radiation and an obvious and inspiring music making.” After the Jenny Lind award followed a summer concert tour in Sweden and the US.

Other scholarships she has received include the Bayreuth Scholarship from the Swedish Wagner Society, the Confidencen Scholarship from the Anders Wall Foundation, the Alice Babs Music Scholarship from Lion’s and the Gillis Bratt Scholarship from Konstnärsringen. In June 2012 Paulina received the Bernadotte Art Award.
