Rebecca Hellbom

Rebecca Hellbom is a young lyric-dramatic soprano from Sweden. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from The Academy of Music and Opera at Mälardalen University, and she has also studied at their Chamber Opera Program. She holds a Master’s degree from The University College of Opera in Stockholm. She studies for Professor Lena Hellström-Färnlöf.

During her studies at Mälardalen University she sang Elettra in Mozart’s opera Idomeneo at Västmanland’s Theatre and was a part of the world premiere of the opera Riddartornet, composed by Carl Unander-Scharin. Her role, Olivia, was specially written for her. With orchestra she has performed scenes from: Fidelio (Leonore), Die Fledermaus (Rosalinde), Lohengrin (Elsa), Der Rosenkavlier (Die Marschallin), La Forza del Destino (Leonora), Le nozze di Figaro (La Contessa).

In October 2020 she was the first prize winner in Gothenburg Wagner Society’s Bayreuth scholarship competition. She received the following motivation from the jury: “An upcoming Wagner voice with dense legato, fine language sense and strong interpretation. And the whole thing was crowned by a magnificent high C.” She was also selected to sing at the scholarship concert in Bayreuth, as one of only four singers.
