Markus Pettersson

Markus Pettersson is a young and truly talented tenor, a rising star that already has attracted great attention for his beautiful and expansive voice, passionate timbre and expressive stage presence. Markus has a Bachelor and Masters Degree from the University College of Opera in Stockholm and has also studied for three years at Vadstena College.

Markus joined the ensemble at GöteborgsOperan in 2016 and among roles there can be mentioned: the leading role Mats in Kronbruden by Swedish composer Ture Rangström, Remendado in Carmen,  Gastone in la Traviata, Beppe in Pagliacci, Neptune in Idomeneo, a Troubadour in Vikingarna (Hallström) and a young servant in Elektra. Next season he will appear as Léonard in La ville morte and Mr Bumble in Oliver!

Among other recent roles: Pong in Turandot, Don José in Carmen and Gastone in La Traviata at Folkoperan, Steuermann in Der fliegende Holländer at Opera på Skäret and Rodolfo in La Bohème with Skånska Operan.
