Jens Persson is a young lyric baritone with a powerful and warm timbre. He has studied at The Royal College of Music, at Hochschule für Music Detmold and took his master’s degree in spring 2013 at the University College of Opera in Stockholm. He appeared as Signor Geronimo in Il matrimonio segreto at Drottningholms Slottsteater in the examination production.
Mr Persson has been employed at the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm since 2014 where he has been especially highly regarded for the interpretation of the scamp Papageno in The Magic Flute. Other earlier roles at the Royal Swedish Opera are Figaro in the revival of The Barber from Seville, Borov in Fedora (Umberto Giordano), Schaunard in La Bohème, Shepherd, Doctor in Pelléas et Mélisande, Elviro in Xerxes, Guglielmo Cecil in Maria Stuarda and Dancaïre in Carmen.

Recently Jens Persson made his debut as Dandino in La Cenerentola (Rossini) and the Sacristan in Tosca. Among roles this season at the Royal Swedish Opera can be mentioned Masetto in Don Giovanni and Count Ceprano in Rigoletto.
Other engagements worth mentioning are Demetrius in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Läckö Slott and participated in La Traviata in Malmö Opera’s regional tour. He was also invited to Landestheater Detmold in Germany for Il Viaggio a Reims (Rossini). At Drottningholms Slottsteater he has sung among other roles Geronimo in Il matrimonio segreto (Cimaros), at Skånska Operan he has sung Guglielmo in Così fan tutte.
Mr Persson is frequently engaged to sing recitals and church concerts, the repertoire includes Requiem by Mozart, Fauré and Duruflé, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, Songs of Travel by Vaughan Williams, Johannespassion by Bach and Carmina Burana.
Jens Persson has been granted Hans Dalborgs Musikstipendium 2012, Kungliga Musikaliska Akademins Nationella Stipendium 2012 and ÅF – Ingemansson’s Music Scholarship 2011. In 2010 he received second prize at Lied-Wettbewerb der GFF 2010 Lieder und Ensembles von Robert Schumann.
