– biography
Swedish mezzo-soprano Lotta Bagge is currently a Young Artist at the Opera studio of Theater Lübeck, where she will make her house debut in 2026 as Mathilde in Dialogues des Carmélites. In august 2026, she will take part in Opera Warbergs baroque opera performance ”Drottning Kristina – O morire, o libertà”, under the baton of Andreas Eriksson Hjort and Concerto d’Arcadia.
In 2025, Lotta graduated with distinction from Universität der Künste in Berlin, where she was a student of mezzo-soprano Prof. Caitlin Hulcup. Previous studies include the Hochschule für Musik – Franz Liszt in Weimar, and Vadstena Academy of Singing and Piano.
During the summer of 2024, Lotta performed in a production at the Vadstena Academy, where she portrayed Frida and Tvätterskan in the world premiere of ”Fotografen” by Anna Einarsson, as well as being one of the finalists in the well
renowned Wilhelm Stenhammar International Music Competition (WSIMC).
During her studies, Lotta appeared at the UNI.T Theater in Berlin as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and previous roles include Dorabella in Così fan Tutte and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro, both by Mozart at Studiotheater Schloss Belvedere in Weimar.
In December 2024, Lotta performed the role of Hänsel in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel in Konzerthaus Berlin, and has since revisited the part twice (UFA-Fabrik Berlin 2025, Kloster Michaelstein, 2025). Other opera productions include
the roles of Ruggiero in Händel’s Alcina (Tarnogorskie Centrum Kultury, Poland), Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan Tutte (Theater am Delphi, Berlin), and Sally in Bernstein’s A Hand of Bridge (Hochschule für Musik – Franz Liszt).
Praised for her warm sound, flexible voice and strong stage presence, described as a ”natural” regarding Mozart and Händel, Lotta has won several awards, including the Aurora Lillieros and Anders Sandrew scholarships, and was also the winner of the Audience Award in the Swedish opera competition OVIS 2022.
As an active concert and oratorio soloist, Lotta has performed in oratorios in Germany (including Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium on a tour in Thuringia with conductor Ton Koopman) and Sweden, and takes a keen interest in chamber music, performing works such as Haydn’s Arianna a Naxos and Grieg’s Haugtussa.
