Lina Dambrauskaitė is one of Lithuania’s most prominent sopranos of her generation. A graduate of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich, she completed her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and trained with the Royal Academy Opera programme at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Deeply passionate about Baroque music and contemporary repertoire, she brings stylistic curiosity and expressiveness to a wide range of roles.
She made her operatic debut in 2015 as Barbarina in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, and has since performed roles such as Thaïs in Handel’s Alexander’s Feast, Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, and Giulietta in Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, among others. Her career has also taken her to Germany, Italy, South Korea, and China, and she represented Lithuania at the Universal Exposition Expo 2015 in Milan and in 2020 in Dubai.
In 2017 she made her London debut as Zerlina in Royal Academy Opera’s production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Other notable roles with RAO include Semele in Handel’s Semele, Le Feu/Le Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les sortilèges, and the Vixen in Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen.
From 2019 to 2021 Lina was a member of the International Opera Studio at Opernhaus Zürich, where she appeared as Papagena in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Xenia in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, and La Primadonna in Donizetti’s Viva la Mamma. She was later invited back as a guest to sing the title role in Valtinoni’s Alice im Wunderland.
On the concert platform, Lina is frequently invited to perform a wide variety of repertoire, ranging from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary works and world premieres. Highlights include Bach’s St Matthew Passion with Trevor Pinnock and the Dunedin Consort, Haydn’s The Creation with Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Gražinytė-Tyla and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.
In 2022 she received Lithuania’s highest performing arts distinction, the Golden Cross of the Stage, for her acclaimed portrayals of Marie in Donizetti’s La fille du régiment and Sophie in Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier.
