Mary Gougousi

The soprano Mary Gougousi was born in Edessa, Greece. Her repertoire consists of iconic roles such as Tosca, Madama Butterfly, Turandot, Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Judith (Bluebeard’s castle).

At the age of seven she began studies in the Municipality Conservatory of Edessa (violin, piano, children’s choir). She continued her music studies at the National Conservatory of Athens in Heraklion, Crete studying piano and advanced theory and took the Degree in Harmony, the Degree in Counterpoint and the Degree in Fugue with honors. During the years 2012-2013 she wrote music for one local and one social documentary. Meanwhile she turned towards classical singing. In January  2017 she took the Diploma in Classical Singing with honors and first prize (class of Anna-Maria Karkania, National Conservatory of Athens).

Ms Gougousi continued her studies in Accademia D’Arte Lirica in Osimo, Italy studying with: Raina Kabaivanska, Enza Ferrari, William Matteuzzi, Anna Vandi, Vincenzo De Vivo, Alla Simoni, Harriet Lawson, Carlo Morganti, Alessandro Benigni, Mirca Rosciani, Claudia Foresi, Matteo Mazzoni etc and has taken the Master di Alto Perfezionamento in Accademia Renato Bruson in Busseto of Italy studying with the great bariton Renato Bruson and with the maestro Roberto Barrali.

During the years 2019-2020 she was a member of the Opera Studio of the National Opera of Greece.
