Swedish pianist Elain Olsson enjoys a distinguished career as a collaborative pianist and chamber musician. Renowned for her refined musicianship and stylistic versatility she is particularly recognised for her artistry in the vocal repertoire, where her instinctive understanding of text, colour and musical expression has made her a sought-after recital partner for many of Sweden’s leading singers.
Having studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Hochschule Luzern – Musik in Switzerland, she has established herself as a versatile artist whose repertoire spans art song, opera and chamber music. Her artistic development has been further enriched through masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Dmitri Bashkirov, Matti Raekallio and Hans Pålsson.
Recent and forthcoming engagements include performances at KKL Luzern (The Culture and convention centre Lucerne), Stockholm Concert Hall, the Royal Swedish Opera, Opera på Skäret, Julita Festival and Internationale Henri Marteau Festival (Germany).
She has collaborated with renowned artists including baritone Olle Persson, sopranos Paulina Pfeiffer and Henriikka Gröndahl, baritone Anton Eriksson, bass Younkug Jin, and violinists such as Christian Svarfvar and Roger Olsson (concertmaster of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra), as well as Jonas Lindgård (concertmaster of the Nordic Chamber Orchestra). She also works regularly with musicians from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and other leading Scandinavian ensembles.
A passionate advocate of the art song tradition, she has performed an extensive repertoire of German Lied, Frenchmélodie, Scandinavian art song and contemporary works, collaborating with singers across generations. Her ability to unite poetic insight with stylistic refinement has earned her a reputation as an inspiring and highly valued artistic partner. Alongside her work with singers, she is equally at home in the major chamber music repertoire for piano with strings and winds, bringing depth of interpretation and finely balanced ensemble playing to every performance.
Elain has a long-standing artistic relationship with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and has, in recent seasons, returned as pianist in its productions, including a recording for Avie Records. She is regularly engaged as an audition pianist both with the orchestra and with opera institutions and music academies throughout Sweden, reflecting her reputation as one of the country’s most experienced and trusted collaborative pianists.
Alongside her performing career, she is Artistic Director and Chair of chamber music series and concert projects, curating collaborations between leading musicians within Swedish musical life.
Her performances have been featured on Swedish Television and Swedish Radio. She has received numerous scholarships and awards, including grants from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and the Sandrews Music scholarship.
