Born in Athens, Greece, Dimitris Paksoglou first embarked on a career as an actor. After studying at the National Superior School of Drama, he appeared in several of Greece’s most prestigious venues, including the Greek National Theatre, the Athens Megaron, and the ancient theatre of Epidaurus.
Despite his success on the dramatic stage, Paksoglou decided to make a career change to pursue opera. He studied singing at the Athens National Conservatory under the guidance of the renowned baritone Kostas Paskalis and Marina Krilovici, graduating with distinction. His career subsequently took him to France, where his work with several opera companies led the Greek National Opera to offer him a contract as a principal tenor—a position he continues to hold while maintaining a busy international schedule.
Paksoglou’s extensive repertoire includes leading roles such as:
Verdi: Radamès (Aida), Gustavo III (Un ballo in maschera), Alfredo (La Traviata), Macduff (Macbeth), Gabriele Adorno (Simon Boccanegra), and Manrico (Il Trovatore).
Puccini: Cavaradossi (Tosca), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), and Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut).
Other notable roles: Don José (Carmen), Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana), Pollione (Norma), Creonte (Medea), Araquil (La Navarraise), and Danilo (The Merry Widow).
He has regularly collaborated with distinguished conductors and directors, including Errico Frezis, Loucas Karytinos, Juanjo Mena, Giancarlo Del Monaco, David Pountney, and Stephen Langridge.
In spring 2026 he will make his debut as Calaf in Turandot for the Royal Swedish Opera in Stockholm.
