Lydia Bryngelsson

Lydia Bryngelsson is a German-American freelance opera singer based in Oslo, Norway. As a child, she obtained her first stage experience in operas at Theater Trier, including the role of Bilke in Fiddler on the Roof, and supernumerary roles in operas such as Eugene Onegin and Ernani, where she appeared alongside her father, bass James Moellenhoff. She received her first voice lessons from her mother, and in 2001, was awarded a first place in the competition Jugend musiziert.

Ms Bryngelsson will appear this season in an opera gala at Stavanger concert house with Opera Rogaland, in Händel’s Dixit Dominus in the Oslo Cathedral and as Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute at Den Norske Opera og Ballett in Norway.

Among earlier roles to be mentioned: Fortuna and Minerva in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in patria, Prinz Orlovsky in Die Fledermaus, Third Lady in The Magic Flute, Cenerentola by Rossini, Virginia Woolf in the opera Orlando by Peter Aderhold, Miss Baggott in Benjamin Britten’s The Little Sweep, Maddalena in Verdi’s Rigoletto and Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel.
