Kine Sandtrø is a young, promising Norwegian soprano with a bachelor’s degree in Opera from the Department of Opera in Stockholm, where Anita Soldh was her singing teacher, and an ongoing Master’s degree at the Opera Academy in Malmö. She already has a bachelor’s degree in performing classical singing from the Barrat Due Music Institute in Norway, where she received singing lessons from Liv-Kjersti Sandve.
During this season, Kine is engaged by Malmö Opera to sing the role of ”Skänkjungfru Josefina” in Fjellström’s opera ”Det går an”. After that, she appears as Suor Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica and in a production with baroque music called ”The Great Noise”, both at Malmö Opera. Last season, she sang Barbarina in Figaro’s wedding at the Royal Opera in Stockholm.
Some roles Kine has done during her studies are Mimi in La Bohème, Adina in L’Elisir d’amore, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Nedda in Pagliacci, Liù in Turandot, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief by Menotti and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte. Kine has sung as a soloist together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Court Orchestra in Stockholm, Malmö Opera Orchestra, KTH’s Academic Chapel. She has also performed with romance repertoire together with pianist Julia Sjöstedt in Canada, USA, Norway and Sweden.
Kine Sandtrø has been awarded several scholarships such as Larsén-Todsen, C Nilsson (2019), Tom Wilhelmsens Stiftelse (2019 and 2016), Bladet Musikkpris (2018), Jenny Lind scholarship (2018) and Jenny Lind Sällskapets pris (2018).
