JOHAN WÅLLBERG BARITONE BIOGRAPHY
Johan Wållberg is a much-appreciated concert and oratorio singer. He has been a part of numerous different opera productions at the Royal Swedish Opera, Malmö Opera, Drottningholms Slottsteater, Wermland Opera and Opera på Skäret. He studied at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main and the University of Opera in Stockholm.
Among the resent highlights, such as the role of Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at Opera på Skäret and Archon in The Greek Passion by Martinú at Wermland Opera. He also participated in the contemporary opera “Det går an” by Sundqvist and Fjellström at Läckö Slott and at Malmö Opera. At Opera Østfold in Norway he sang Il Sagrestano in Tosca and at the Piteå Chamber Opera the title role in the new opera Boris Christ. This autumn he sang at the world premiere of “In Transit”, an opera written by Stefan Lindgren, performed at the Alexander theater in Helsinki.
Johan is regularly engaged as concert and oratorio soloist and has performed with choirs and orchestras in Sweden and several other countries in Europe. Some of the major works performed are Brahms’ Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, B Minor Mass, St. Matthew passion and St. John Passion. His Concert repertoire also includes Winterreise by Schubert, Dichterliebe by Schumann, The Dream of Gerontius by Elgar, Allan Pettersson Barfotasånger and Kung Eriks visor by Ture Rangström.
