CHRISTINA LARSSON MALMBERG SOPRANO BIOGRAPHY
Christina Larsson Malmberg, soprano, specialises in early music and is active nationally and internationally. She is often heard in oratorios, passions, opera and chamber music contexts, and has been a soloist with baroque orchestras such as the Tallin Baroque Orchestra, the Polish Consortium Sedinum Ensemble, Copenhagen Soloists, Göteborg Baroque, Karlsson Baroque, Orfeus Baroque, Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble and others.
Opera roles include Belinda in William Relton’s production of Dido & Aeneas at Confidencen, (which was broadcast on SR and SVT), La Musica and Euridice in Monteverdi’s Orfeo, and Anima in Cavalieri’s Rappresentatione di Anima e di Corpo.
She is frequently engaged as an oratorio soloist in everything from Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beata Vergine, Bach’s all Passions and Christmas Oratorio, Händel’s Messiah and Dixit Dominus, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and more.
She has premiered specially written works by Mattias Petersson and Andrea Tarrodi. In Tarrodi’s music, Christina was also the lyricist.
Christina is one of the founders and artistic directors of the award-winning Operabyrån, which in its multi-year collaboration with Konserthuset Stockholm has performed five of its productions with Christina as soloist, including ”I allt hon nånsin rört vid” (In everything she ever touched) (2022), ”Artemisia” (2020) and ”Mystikens systrar” (Sisters of Mysticism) (2019). Several of the Operabyrån’s productions have been broadcast on the Swedish Radio.
She is educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Danske Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen, with an additional artistic Master’s degree in early music from Kungl. Music Academy in Stockholm.
