16 maj THE TENOR LARS CLEVEMAN JOINS GOOD COMPANY
We are proud to welcome the Swedish tenor Lars Cleveman to Good Company. Lars has sung a large number of main roles on opera stages all over the world, such as the Metropoliten Opera, Covent Garden and Bayreuth. He made his debut after studies at the University College of Opera in Stockholm as Canio in Il Pagliacci in 1988. He was invited to join the ensemble at the Royal Swedish Opera in 1996 and was the leading tenor in the Italian, French and further on also in the German repertoire until 2009.
Important roles during the years has been Erik in The flying Dutchman, Werther, Don José, Don Carlos, Pinkerton, Hoffmann and Otello. In 2006 he debuted as Siegfried in Siegfried and in 2007 as Siegfried in Götterdämmerung, both in the Wagner Ring at the Royal Swedish Opera. Other Wagner roles have been Parsifal, Tristan and Tannhäuser.
In recent years Lars has debuted very successfully as Eleazar in Halevy’s La Juive (Gothenburg Opera in Sweden 2014) and as Florestan in Fidelio (Deutsche Nationaltheater Weimar 2017). He was invited back to the Royal Swedish Opera in 2017 once again to sing both Siegfried roles and was much appreciated both by the media and by the audience for his interpretations. In April 2019 he sang Siegmund in Die Walküre at Teatro Petruzzelli in Italy under the conductor Stefan Anton Reck. With a career that extends over more than 30 years, Lars should be one of the most experienced among now active tenors – not only in Sweden but also in Europe.
