Karl Rombo

Karl Rombo studied at the Royal College of Music and at the University College of Opera in Stockholm, from which he graduated in 2006. He made his debut at the Royal Opera in Stockholm the same year, as Arim in a contemporary opera by Daniel Börtz’ ”Svall”.

Mr Rombo was a member of the ensemble at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm in 2011-2012.  The roles he sang there include Federico in Verdi’s Stiffelio, Trin in La Fanciulla del West, Remendado in Carmen and the Tenor-part in Händel’s Messiah.

Among recent roles you find Bénédikt in Béatrice and Bénédikt by Berlioz (Läckö Slottsopera in Sweden), Pierre Curie in the contemporary piece Blanche och Marie, by Mats Gothe Larsson (Norrlandsoperan), Jack the Ripper/Joseph Silver in The Elephant man by Unander-Scharin (Norrlandsoperan), Basilio and Don Curzioin Le nozze di Figaro (Swedish Theatre, Åbo), Tebaldo in Capuleti e Montecchi by Bellini, Gastone in La Traviata and Jim Carlisle in the contemporary piece Sleep Clinic by Unander-Scharin (Göteborgsoperan), Alex in composer Jonas Forsell’s contemporary opera Träskoprinsessan, Eddie in Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers and Gardefeux in La vie Parisienne (Malmö Opera), Cassio in Otello(Uppsala, Sweden) and the part Karl X Gustav in the contemporary opera Magnus Gabriel by Börtz (Läckö Slottsopera).

Karl Rombo’s concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requeim, Händel’s Messiah, Bach’s H-Molle Messe and St. John Passion, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle and Stravinskij’s Les Noces.
